Kish, Thelma (nee Fryer), age 95. Born November 8, 1918 in Detroit to Percy and Ida Fryer. Carried on angel wings April 8, 2014. Wife of the late Stephen. Mother of Elaine (James) Shrewsburg and Marsha (Rodney) Scarberry. Dearest grandmother of Brett Scarberry, Tim (Andrea) Shrewsburg, Jennifer (Chris) Ottney, Dawn Scarberry (and her four sons) and Shawn Scarberry. G.G. to Megan and Katelyn Shrewsburg, Alyssa Ottney, Kayla and Keira Scarberry. G.G. grandmother to Wyatt Scarberry. Dear sister of the late Robert and Myra Fryer, Ellis (the late Sylvia) Fryer and the late Norman Fryer. Dear sister-in-law of Normans' wife Aileen Fryer. Much loved aunt of Robert, Sharon, Amy (Edward), Don (Betty Ann), Ken (Hilda), Carolyn, Ellis Jr. and the late Miles. Great Aunt of Natalie, Joseph, Haley, Christopher and Scott. Dearest godmother of Gail Cotton Getz. Caring friend of Delores Conley. Longtime neighbor of Mary Bennett, Eleanor Curtis and the late Lucille Wardell. Special neighbor of Terry (Sandee) Chase. Thelma began work at an early age and continued throughout her life. She started at a bakery in Southwest Detroit, then a button factory, a bookkeeper for Detroit Packing House and B. Siegel Co. She also worked at Beverly Manor Nursing Facility in Southgate. While raising her family, she never sat still. She had many hobbies including cake decorating, decoupage, china painting, Girl Scout leader, craft camp counselor and cook at Camp Talahi in Brighton. In her later years, she made her own greeting cards. She worked at Meals on Wheels in Trenton and did a lot of traveling, with trips including Hawaii, Jamaica, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Caribbean Cruise to Venezuela, and Mississippi Paddleboat cruise. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment in Punchbowl National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii. A Life Celebration will be planned at a later date.
