Miriam (Mary) Johnson was born in Detroit, Michigan, on June 18, 1963, to Edwin (late) and Lucille Cook.
A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, she was received by the Lord with open arms into His kingdom on October 23, 2024, at the age of 61. She was the heart and soul of her family, caring for everyone with a gentle and loving touch. A true matriarch, Mary’s nurturing spirit kept her loved ones close and strong, and her memory will forever be cherished.
Mary was the devoted wife of Robert Johnson. Together, they shared a loving and true relationship - a marriage that was a testament to the power of love and commitment. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them. She was the loving mother of Tasha (Steven) Dane and Brandon (Laura) Dane, and the devoted stepmother to Matthew Johnson and Melissa (Kyle) Brady. Mary was the proud grandmother of Rylin, Meadow, Delilah, Lydia, Ian, and Cameron. Her grandchildren filled her life with immense pride and joy, and she treasured the special bond she shared with each one. She is survived by her siblings, Carlyn (Alan) Young, LaPellya (Buck) Jones, Jannie (Arnell) Smith, and Joseph Cook. She was preceded in death by her siblings Eddie, Bennie, Sharon, Dorothy, and Rita. Mary was also a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews who adored her. Mary found peace and joy at the lake house, where she loved spending time on the boat and sharing summer fun with family and friends. She had a gift for caring for others, always putting the needs of her family first, and her legacy as the family’s caretaker will never be forgotten. Mary’s faith in God was a guiding light throughout her life, bringing her strength and comfort, especially in difficult times. She will be missed by all, but her spirit, love, and memories will live on in every heart she has touched.
