John Dennis Mcclendon

John Dennis McClendon, age 65, of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017. John was pre-deceased by his wife Patty (Grancitelli) McClendon, and his parents John and Alice (Antle) McClendon. He is survived by his sister Ann McClendon Curtis and his brother Joe McClendon and their families, as well as many beloved members of the Grancitelli family. John was a graduate of the University of Michigan and a lifelong resident of Monroe. He had recently retired after a varied career. From his first post-school job as the night manager at Big Boy to sales management at Tenneco Automotive to partnering in the start of a beverage distribution business, John worked hard, but he also knew how to make the most of life. In his younger days, weekends would find him on the course at Green Meadows or traveling with Patty. And of course there was fishing. Until the very last, he was enjoying the simple pleasures of baiting a hook and casting a line. John's family and friends will also remember him for his renaissance mind. He knew a little bit about a lot of topics, which he always enjoyed sharing with his young nieces and nephews at family barbeques and holidays. In accordance with John's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial will be planned for a date to be determined later this year. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Monroe County.
