Listen to Obituary

Guy Pat O’Neill, of Trenton, Michigan, was born on

August 17, 1936 in Wyandotte and passed away on May

11, 2024 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Shirley for

60 years. Proud dad of Cynthia (Dennis) Mazurek, Patrick

(Julia) O’Neill and Sharyn O’Neill. Cherished grandpa of

Eric, Sara, Anna, and Adam. Dearest brother of

Roseceline Cowan and Mary Ann Kowalksi. He was

preceded in death by his parents; Arthur and Clara,

siblings Glee McCormick, Richard O'Neill, Terry O'Neill

Theresa Ososkie, and Brother Xavier “Donald” O’Neill.

An alumnus of the University of Michigan, Pat retired

from the Trenton Public School System where he taught

elementary school and driver’s education. He proudly

served his country in the United States Army.

Pat was known for his energy, jokes, and love of the

outdoors. He was an avid reader, ‘Picker,’ golfer, hunter,

fisherman, and University of Michigan fan. He loved

spending time with his wife and family Up North. Pat

enjoyed Spring trips down the Au Sable fishing with

Patrick and searching for garage sale treasures with

Cynthia. Daily rituals included walks and bike rides

around the neighborhood with Sharyn, attending Holy

Mass, and watching ‘The Price is Right.’

He reminded those around him to count their blessings

with his trademark ‘this is the life’ mantra. When asked

“How are you”? His response was “Adequate.” He was

much more than ‘adequate.’ He was a treasured

husband, father, grandpa, teacher, neighbor, and friend.

Memorial contributions to honor Pat’s life may be made

to the Special Olympics.
