Edgar David O'Hara

Age 92, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 23, 2021, at his home, surrounded by love. He was born August 9, 1928 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Thomas and Eva (Bees) O’Hara. Edgar lived a life of service beginning with a two year tour in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a proud member of the River Rouge Police force for 30 years, serving as a Patrolman, Detective, Deputy Chief, retiring from the police force as Chief of Police. He contributed to his community through active membership in Rotary International and the Knights of Columbus. He was involved in River Rouge’s youth recreation programs and he served as an usher and lector at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for many years. On May 2, 1953, he married the love of his life Vera and she survives him. He is also survived by his daughters Diane O’Hara (David Pierzchala), Mary Anne Van Ermen (Paul) and Jeanne O’Hara (Scott Lonner); daughter-in-law Loretta O'Hara Claxton; sisters Eva Eberts (late Norm) and Mary Catherine Judge (late Jack); grandchildren Alexander, Anna, Kelly (John), Lani (Jeremy), Kyle (Jessica), Mariah (Jack), Caitlin (Dillon) and Megan; and one great grandchild Nicholas. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son David O’Hara, his brother Thomas O’Hara (Jane) and his sister Patricia Kakos (Spiros). A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Trenton, Michigan. His family will receive visitors at the church at 9:30 am.
