Darren J. Crosby, of Newport, passed away May 4, 2024. Loving son of James Crosby and Patricia (Walsh) Crosby. Proud dad of Lily and Ryder. Beloved brother of Meghan, the late Dillon, James and Tonya. Dear uncle and cousin of many. He is survived by many other loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother, Dillon Crosby; his grandparents, James and Pauline Crosby, and Mary and Glenn Walsh; his cousin, Kevin Walsh, and his uncles Jack Walsh, and Rusty Walsh.
Darren played hockey, baseball, and golf at St. Mary’s Catholic Central and graduated from Jefferson High School.
Darren had won the Monroe County spelling bee in the 8th grade and thoroughly enjoyed correcting everyone on their spelling and pronunciation throughout his life. Darren loved to read. Some of his favorites were Harry Potter Novels and Stephen King books.
Darren enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, listening to and writing music, golf, and baseball. He loved hockey, especially the Detroit Red Wings. He was teaching Ryder to play golf, and baseball. He loved going to watch Lily dance and sing.
Visitation will take place at The Ford Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, on Thursday May 16, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm. There will be a rosary held that same evening at the funeral home at 6:00 p.m. The Mass of Resurrection held at St. Charles Catholic Church located at 8125 Swan Creek Rd, Newport, MI 48166. In State 10:00 a.m. and Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Newport.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Darren to Oaks of Righteousness or Harbor Light.
