Daniel D. Novak

Daniel D. Novak of Lincoln Park, Michigan passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at the age of 78. Loving husband of the late Bernadette. Cherished father of Kimberly Novak, Jimmy (Susan) Novak, Mary (Gerarde McGrath) Wyrabkiewicz, Robert (Amy) Novak, Robert Wyrabkiewicz, and Rachel Novak. Caring grandfather of Brandon, Brent, Tricia, Nathan, Haley, Tyler, Kayla, Riley, Savanna, Syaira, and Katherine Rose and great-grandfather of 2. Dear brother of Donna Novak, Larry (Shirley) Novak, Sharon Novak, Wendy Novak, and Shannon (Greg) Shepherd. Daniel was preceded in death by his son Danny Novak, his parents Joseph and Dorothy Novak, and his brothers Ronald (the late Beatrice) Novak and Robin (Faye) Novak. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

At the age of 17, after his parents Joe and Dorothy gave permission allowing a minor to enlist, Dan joined the Marine Corps. Shortly after enlisting, he was sent to serve his country in Vietnam. He was proud to be a Vietnam Veteran and the Marine Corps was a vital part of who he was. You would always see him in a Vietnam Veteran hat and a Marine Corps shirt. When he would see another Marine, he would say “Oorah” or “Semper Fi”.

Dan was a kindhearted and giving man who would lend a hand to anyone. He would help those struggling without being asked. He was very generous to those he knew and loved and did not expect anything in return.

He treasured deer hunting with rifle or bow at his father’s cabin in Vanderbilt or when he would gather with his brothers. He loved to share his knowledge of hunting with the younger generation. Dan loved dancing and would dance with anyone, any time at any place. Stopping the car and pulling over to dance was not uncommon for him. It was not unusual for him to hear a song, grab the hand of his wife or daughter and start twirling them all around. He enjoyed watching his sporting teams the Tigers, Lions and MSU football. It was well known when a game was on, he was not being pulled away. If dinner was done and he was watching a game he would say “I’m coming”, however his plate ended up waiting for him on the stove till the game ended.

Dan's family was most important to him. He was an amazing father and always made time for his children. His pride and joy were his grandchildren. The smile on his face when they walked in to see him was priceless. They loved to lay with him watching TV, unless it was one of his Sci-Fi movies.

After the passing of his beloved wife Bernadette, he found joy and happiness feeding and watching the birds along with feeding the squirrels.

Semper Fi dear Father, Grandad, Brother, Uncle and Husband!
