Barbara J. Fleming, 77, of Newport, MI passed away on December 28, 2017 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. She was born in Monroe, Michigan on March 20, 1940 to Randall J. and Eunice (nee: Gaynier) Brancheau. She married Robert Fleming on September 29, 1962 at St. Charles Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on December 7, 2009. Barbara served in many capacities and served as the parish secretary for many years at St. Charles Catholic Church and she was an active member of Companions of Christ The Lamb. She was a faithful and holy woman who led by example and instilled her faith in her children and family. Family was her love in life and she cherished every one of them; she was an exceptional quilter and expressed her love for her children and grandchildren by making quilts for each of them. Barbara was an excellent cook and for many years enjoyed decorating cakes; she also enjoyed gardening and traveling with her family. She is the loving mom of Robert (Anne) of Monroe, Christopher (Suzanne) of Newport, Bart (Mary) of Monroe and Mark (Jenna) of Georgetown, TX and the proud grandma of Benjamin, Emily (Kyle), Rebecca (Bobby), Katie, Hollie, Nicholas, Matthew (Jess), Megan, Mitchell, Margaret, Elizabeth "Ella" and Liam and great grandma of Levi. Also surviving are three brothers James (Linda), Gerald (Sharon) and Arthur (Sue) Brancheau all of Newport; four sisters Margaret Nelles, and Ann Owens both of Monroe, Ruth (David) Santo of Riverview and Janice (Mark) Bak of Trenton as well as many nieces, nephews, other loving family and a host of friends. Also preceding her in death are her three brothers Charles, Daniel and Paul Brancheau and two sisters Judith and Katherine Brancheau. Visitation is on Sunday, December 31, 2017 from 1 – 8 pm with a Rosary at 5 pm both at The Allore Chapel of The Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 203 E. Elm Ave., Monroe. Barbara will lie in state on Tuesday 10 am at St. Charles Catholic Church, Newport until the time of the Funeral Liturgy which will begin at the Church at 11 am. Interment St. Charles Cemetery. Memorial contributions in honor of Barbara may be made to Companions of Christ The Lamb or to St. Charles Catholic School. A video tribute will be added, please check back.
