Dearest great-grandfather of 21. Anthony Pitrone was born in Kent, Pennsylvania, on June 3, 1911, to Italian immigrants Joseph and Anna Maria Pitrone; raised in Negaunee, Michigan, and moved to the Detroit area in 1940. He was employed with Wayne County and worked on the property at Eloise from 1945 to his retirement in 1975. He knew those grounds like the back of his hand and enjoyed telling stories of his time working there. Anthony retired from a lifetime of service to Wayne County, but never retired from being a hard-working man. Anthony was one of the original members of the Negaunee City Band and was proud of the many years he spent playing the clarinet with them. It was about 10 years ago that he was honored by the Band as their oldest surviving member when he visited Negaunee and attended a concert. Anthony enjoyed watching Tiger Baseball, visiting with his children, grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. He basked in the sun while spending the past few winters in Florida with daughter Julie and son-in-law Jon. Preceded in death by sisters Mary Richards and Sara Pitrone, and brother Dominic Pitrone. Funeral Services were Saturday at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Trenton MI. Interment Our Lady of Hope. Arrangements by the Trenton Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes.
